From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

After a two-year absence, Coachella has made its highly anticipated return.

Located in Indio, California, the desert festival has gained popularity over the years for its glitzy Instagram-worthy dress code and major celebrity guest sightings.

The festival began its second weekend on Friday (22 April), following a lively first three days a week ago.

Harry Styles headlined on Friday night, delighting fans as he brought out Lizzo for his special guest (after duetting with Shania Twain last week). The singer and rapper joined him for a rendition of the One Direction song “What Makes You Beautiful”, as well as Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”.

Saturday’s (23 April) show was all about Billie Eilish, who teamed up with Hayley Williams for an acoustic version of Paramore’s “Misery Business”. However, soon after Williams left the stage, Eilish tripped over and fell flat on her face. “You guys, I seriously ate s***,” she told the crowd. “Seriously. It was pitch black.”

Billie Eilish falls on face during Coachella headline show

Things didn’t go entirely smoothly for Billie Eilish, who tripped over on her face during her headline slot on Saturday night.

The singer could be heard falling and shouting “ouch” as the lights went down after she sang “Getting Older”, telling the crowd: “It was dark. Ouch! I tripped on the f***ing fire thing.”

However, there was one noticeable ommission from this Friday’s line-up.

While Arcade Fire performed last week (you can check out The Independent’s five-star review below), they were not at the festival for weekend two.

Friday’s show was packed out with surprise performances. Harry Styles was joined by Lizzo, Kendrick Lamar joined Baby Keem on stage and Arlo Parks performed with Phoebe Bridgers once again.

Omar Apollo also joined Daniel Caesar for his set. Last week, Caesar had Justin Bieber come out as a special guest for their song “Peaches”.

Billie Eilish is highlighting Saturday night’s show and will likely bring out another amazing guest.

Last week, the singer performed with Blur frontman Damon Albarn, singing “Getting Older” together along with “Feel Good Inc” by Gorillaz.

However, fans didn’t all recognise Albarn, with many assuming that he was Eilish’s father... or even Elton John.

Billie Eilish welcomed Blur frontman Damon Albarn onto the Coachella stage during her headline set on Saturday night (16 April). The pair sang a rendition of her song “Getting Older”, before launching into “Feel Good Inc” by Albarn’s other band, Gorillaz."This man changed my life in a lot of ways and changed my complete view of what music, what art could be," Eilish said as she performed alongside Albarn."Blur changed the world and f***ing Gorillaz changed the world, this man is literally a genius and that’s that."Click here to sign up for our newsletters.
