Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Suicide Squad actor, who is the frontman of band Thirty Seconds to Mars, reflected upon the life of the Linkin Park frontman who died by suicide earlier this year.
In his heartfelt speech, Leto said: “I think about his wife and his six incredible children. I think about his family, I think about his band, who were really his brothers. And I remember his voice, at once ferocious and delicate. That voice will live forever.”
Leto's tribute culminated with an encouraging plea to any viewers suffering from depression to reach out should they need help.
He said: “If there is anyone out there who is watching this tonight who feels like there is no hope, hear me now: You are not alone. There is always a way forward.
“Reach out, share your thoughts, do not give up.”
The nu-metal pioneer's final purchase was seemingly revealed following his death leading many to believe he may have been setting up his wife and six children for life ahead of his death.
Bennington was found dead in his Los Angeles home on the 53rd birthday of his close friend Chris Cornell, the Soundgarden frontman who died by suicide in May - something prevention experts believe may bear some importance.
Following his death, Bennington's Linkin Park band mates created a suicide prevention website where fans can leave their own tributes as well as seek advice should they need it
