From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Linkin Park band members have set up a suicide-prevention website in honour of frontman Chester Bennington who was found dead last Thursday (20 July).

The new site has been designed as a place where fans can go to pay tribute to the singer as well as a hub to seek help should someone need it.

Chester.linkinpark.com writes, “In case you or someone you know needs support, here are some resources.“ The web page goes on to list contact numbers and links to other other suicide prevention websites.

Bennington was found dead at his home in Los Angeles last week - the county coroner ruled his death suicide by hanging.

It was revealed that the 41-year-old singer - one of the leading pioneers of the nu-metal genre - died on the 53rd birthday of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, his close friend who also died by suicide in May - something that prevention experts believe may bear some importance.
