Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Cure performed the closing set of the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival 2019, with a euphoric rendition of "Boys Don't Cry".

The goth rockers played a number of crowd favourites including "Friday I'm in Love", "The Forest" and "In Between Days".

During their set, frontman Robert Smith quipped that he was attempting to win the prize for saying "the least" during the performance, referring to his near-silence in between songs for the first half of the show.

The performance was preceded by Vampire Weekend on the same stage, along with shows across Worthy Farm by artists including Miley Cyrus, Loyle Carner, Dave, Flohio, Little Simz, Janelle Monae, Kylie Minogue and Years & Years.

Temperatures were slightly cooler following what appeared to be a near-record-breaking heatwave on the Saturday, that prompted one glamping site to ban showers due to a water shortage.

One take on the outfits sported by Kylie's latest batch of backing dancers.

Next up on the Kylie setlist is "Kids". After a weekend of cameos for different acts, Robbie Williams is notable by his absence in this karaoke duet staple.

We always knew this was going to be an emotional one for Kylie, as she tells the Glasto crowds.

"In 2005 I was supposed to be here on this very stage but instead circumstances meant I didn't. And I watched from Australia. I wish things could have been different but life is what it is, right? And we're all here together today. I realise not only that story but our story, there's 30+ years together all of our individual story and now our collective story. But back then when I was watching Glastonbury, some of the artists covered a couple of my songs, and that is the spirit and the gracious nature of Glastonbury. So I asked one of those people who happens to be a friend if he would join me in that momentous moment...and he said alright I'll play in the band"

And now Chris Martin has joined Kylie, this is his second time on the Pyramid Stage this weekend and Coldplay aren't even supposed to be playing. He's proving more prolific than Lewis Capaldi. Like Japanese Knotweed. The pair of them.

Moving on, she's donned a glittery dress for "Especially For You". Poor old Jason Donovan clearly didn't get the call up.

Seeing as we couldn't have Jason, who do you think should have been the replacement?

Just taking a moment to appreciate how meticulously and seamlessly choreographed Kylie's shows are. Even her battery back has been covered with material to blend in with her dress.

This whole section is a glorious colourful homage to Kylie's Eighties pinnacle. What's more, it is as fun as it is unapologetically camp.

There's even an audience member crowdsurfing on a pink flamingo inflatable.

The mirrored backdrop that has been wheeled onstage is reflected back the vast swathes of people who have come to see Kylie. It's incredible, although not entirely unexpected that so many want to witness a joyous, uncontroversial pop legend.

Of course, Glastonbury isn't all about watching divas deliver. Alexandra Pollard has been having some much needed respite in the Healing Fields with some embroidery.
