Glastonbury on Sunday, as it happened: The Cure close Glastonbury 2019 with 'Boys Don't Cry'
Final day of Glastonbury took place at Worthy Farm after a weekend of unprecedented good weather
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Cure performed the closing set of the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival 2019, with a euphoric rendition of "Boys Don't Cry".
The goth rockers played a number of crowd favourites including "Friday I'm in Love", "The Forest" and "In Between Days".
During their set, frontman Robert Smith quipped that he was attempting to win the prize for saying "the least" during the performance, referring to his near-silence in between songs for the first half of the show.
The performance was preceded by Vampire Weekend on the same stage, along with shows across Worthy Farm by artists including Miley Cyrus, Loyle Carner, Dave, Flohio, Little Simz, Janelle Monae, Kylie Minogue and Years & Years.
Temperatures were slightly cooler following what appeared to be a near-record-breaking heatwave on the Saturday, that prompted one glamping site to ban showers due to a water shortage.

If you feel you've been missing out on all the fun at Glastonbury, or just want to relive the weekend, you can torture yourself a little more by flicking through the best pictures from the weekend so far.
Olly Alexander has just finished an incredible dance number with a troupe dressed as policemen, it all ended with a rather sensual snog. All the while on the screen behind w ere messages about hate crime against LGBT people.
He's now following it up with a rather beautiful speech about the anniversary of the Stonewall riots.
Sometime writer for the Independent, sometime DJ Kate Hutchinson has just finished her set at the Beat Hotel. Here's one of her interviews with fellow festival attendee Mark Ronson from earlier this month
Jazz Monroe, who was at Kate Hutchinson's Beat Hotel set:
"Worldwide FM’s Kate Hutchinson sprinkled stardust on Glastonbury’s Sunday blues with a Beat Hotel set of afrobeat and tropical disco. Bloody Marys all round.
Ballet has been pervasive this Glastonbury. First Stormzy had two dancers from Black Ballet, and now Years & Years have been joined by the inimitable Ballet Boyz. I'd quite like one of their brightly coloured tutu/legging numbers.
Not long now until Kylie makes an appearance on the Pyramid Stage, and it's bound to be an emotional one. You can watch at 15:45 on the BBC's red button.
Sir David Attenborough has taken to the Pyramid Stage, commending the festival's commitment to go plastic free. "There are seven great continents on which we human beings live. Each of them has their own marvellous creatures, each of them has its own glory, each of them has its own problems".
He's introducing a sneak peak of his new series, "Seven Worlds, One Planet."
Later on tonight, the "most talked about teenager in pop" Billie Eilish will be taking to the Other Stage. If this afternoon's pop filled Pyramid lineup is proving just a little bit too saccharine for your tastes, this edgy emo (do the young folk still use emo?) might just be the antidote. Check out the rest of our ones to watch here.
