Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Cure performed the closing set of the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival 2019, with a euphoric rendition of "Boys Don't Cry".

The goth rockers played a number of crowd favourites including "Friday I'm in Love", "The Forest" and "In Between Days".

During their set, frontman Robert Smith quipped that he was attempting to win the prize for saying "the least" during the performance, referring to his near-silence in between songs for the first half of the show.

The performance was preceded by Vampire Weekend on the same stage, along with shows across Worthy Farm by artists including Miley Cyrus, Loyle Carner, Dave, Flohio, Little Simz, Janelle Monae, Kylie Minogue and Years & Years.

Temperatures were slightly cooler following what appeared to be a near-record-breaking heatwave on the Saturday, that prompted one glamping site to ban showers due to a water shortage.

Another band to watch later today are Years & Years, who will be taking to the Pyramid Stage at 1.45pm. I last saw them on the Other Stage three years ago, when lead singer Olly Alexander was resplendent in his rainbow-tassled outfit, and since then they've continued their steady trajectory onto the festival's main stage.

Some motherly advice for those enjoying the festival in real life. If anyone else has some parental top tips (or terrible tips) please send them my way.

If you enjoyed Stormzy's special guests, Dave and Fredo, during Friday night's storming headline performance, it will be well worth flicking over to the Other Stage at 18.45 this evening. Dave will be playing, and the rapper is bound to bring out a few mates to help move things along. Maybe Stormzy will even return the favour.

The first snippets of the BBC's red button coverage is starting now for those dedicated Glastonbury watchers who couldn't make the actual festival. Currently taking to the stage is soul legend and political activist Mavis Staples.

She will be celebrating her 80th birthday this year. At an age where getting out of an armchair is a struggle, Staples is belting out her gospel infused songs with huge prowess and a smile on her face.

Fans and future spouses are getting prepared for Kylie's legends slot. She'll be taking to the Pyramid Stage at 15.45.

Mavis Staples is delivering US minister Michael Curry levels of inspirational patter over on the Pyramid Stage.

Hot of the Glastonbury Press is a...um... William Blake quote. That's nice.

Mavis Staples stayed true to her political activist roots with a denunciation of gun violence in the US, and a declaration that she might run for president. She certainly had the crowd's backing...

The Killers weren't the only ones to have special guests last night. Fatboy Slim was joined by possible-future-Bond Idris Elba.
