Your support makes all the difference.The Room fans watched the Golden Globes in awe as James Franco brought things full circle for Tommy Wiseau who came on stage during his emotional speech after winning Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for The Disaster Artist.
Franco directed the film which saw him play the filmmaker of what is considered to be one of the worst films of all time, The Room. "First person I have to thank is the man himself, Tommy Wiseau," the actor said before inviting him onto the stage.
Viewers were up in arms as Franco blocked Wiseau from grabbing the microphone, instead opting to tell Wiseau's story himself.
"19 years ago, he was stuck in traffic from the Golden Globes. He said to his best friend Greg [Sestero], "The Golden Globes? So what - I'm not invited, so I show them. I don't wait for Hollywood. I make my own movie. I'm very happy to share this moment with him today."
Franco beat out Hugh Jackman, Ansel Elgort, Steve Carell and Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya to win the trophy.
This year's ceremony is hosted by Seth Meyers whose opening monologue directly addressed the sexual harassment scandal to have rocked Hollywood in recent months, dishing out a joke about Harvey Weinstein which drew gasps from the audience - you can find a compilation of his best jokes here.
Viewers are praising Natalie Portman for subtly criticising the lack of female representation in the Best Director category she was presenting alongside Ron Howard.
