From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1has debuted its first teaser trailer at Comic-Con, seeing Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) appoint Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) as the leader of an uprising.

Katniss only features very briefly at the one-minute teaser's finish, promising to fight President Snow's dictatorship as she walks though the impoverished District 8.

The trailer gives glimpses of woodland battles, explosions in the Capitol and a Mockingjay crop circle, also offering the first look at Games of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer's character, Cressida.

Snow issues a ban on the Mockingjay logo in the clip, which has come to be a symbol of rebellion.

The trailer premiered at a preview at the San Diego convention on Friday, in a promotional tie-in with Samsung.

Fans who wanted to be among the first to see the teaser had to queue up before entering a Mockingjay pavilion, then being led to white pods where they could watch it on a Samsung tablet. Very Capitol.

The trailer follows a rebellion poster, living portraits of Johanna and Peeta and two speeches from President Snow, with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 set to open in cinemas on 21 November, 2014.
