From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Suicide Squad is only days away from hitting cinemas across the world, but as the film’s release draws closer, more and more footage has been released online, revealing yet more of the plot.

During the Warner Bros. Comic-Con panel in San Diego, the studio debuted numerous new trailers, one of which was for the villainous DC film.

Moments after, the trailer appeared online to be devoured by fans, many of whom analysed the three-minute clip shot by shot. Notably, a villain with some sort of lightning power was revealed for the fist time, hiding what could be one of the film’s hugest cameos.

Fans believe that at the 2.25 mark, the lightning-esque effect isn’t coming from the villain, but instead The Flash, who made a quick appearance in Batman v Superman as well as the recently released Justice League trailer.

It’s a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ moment, but if you compare the effects used to denote when The Flash is using his powers to the screenshots from the trailer, the two are notably similar.

Meanwhile, another Suicide Squad spoiler may have accidentally been revealed at Comic-Con because of a toy reveal.

Suicide Squad hits cinemas 5 August.
