From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Ever since Disney bought LucasFilm and announced they would be making Star Wars anthology films, fans have been holding out hope for an Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off.

Last year, hopes were raised as reports appeared suggesting Stephen Daldry could be directing, while word spread from Pinewood studios that production could begin early 2019.

Appearing at the Golden Globes to receive the best actor award for the third season of Fargo, eager Star Wars fans pointed out that the Ewan McGregor's haircut looked similar to the one he sported back when filming Revenge of the Sith.

Earlier in the week, a picture of the actor training at the gym was also posted online, some people believing he could be working out for the role.

McGregor also spoke about returning as Obi-Wan after the awards, telling The Hollywood Reporter: "There’s a lot of talk and I’d be happy to play him again but I don’t know anything more than you do.”

The Trainspotting actor also spoke about The Last Jedi, adding: "I saw the new one over Christmas and I thought it was really, really beautiful.”

Meanwhile, the Golden Globes were cause for much celebration as Oprah gave an incredible speech, Natalie Portman brought the shade, and Big Little Lies reigned victorious. Read the major talking points here.
