House of Cards star Corey Stoll set to join Marvel's Ant-Man

The US actor is reportedly in final talks to take on a role in the new movie

Corey Stoll of House of Cards fame is in final talks to join the cast of Ant-Man, it has been reported.

Edgar Wright's superhero movie for Marvel so far stars Paul Rudd in the lead role, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as an older Hank Pym and Patrick Wilson, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Pena.

Pym is a biochemist who is able to shrink to the size of an insect through his discover of subatomic particles, while Lang is a former thief and electronics pro who later uses Pym’s technology to become the superhero.

Stoll's part is unknown at this stage but more is expected to be revealed soon. The actor is also known for his performance as writer Ernest Hemingway in Woody Allen's 2012 Midnight in Paris, as well as roles in The Bourne Legacy, Salt and Non-Stop.

The plotline for the hotly-awaited film has been kept tightly under wraps, bar the recent release of some test-footage.

Director Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) has written the script with English comedian Joe Cornish (The Adventures of Tintin). Marvel head Kevin Feige is producing.

Filming for Ant-Man is due to begin next month, with a scheduled release date of 17 July 2015.
