From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Mr Baywatch himself David Hasselhoff has finally joined the upcoming film version of the Nineties TV series.
The news was announced by the film's star Dwayne Johnson who has seemingly assumed the role of spokesperson for the film co-starring Zac Efron.
The wrestler-turned-film star revealed the news via a video he posted to Instagram which sees him Facetime the actor.
"Come on, man, The Rock and The Hoff - I was born ready," shouts the actor who played Mitch Glazer in the original series.
In January, Johnson also confirmed that model Kelly Rohrbach would star in the film as C.J. Parker, the role made famous by Pamela Anderson.
Anderson herself recently spoke out suggesting to reporters that she's been approached for the project but is yet to accept a role.
Johnson will star in Baywatch as The Hoff's character; directed by Horrible Bosses' Seth Gordon, the film will follow Efron's young lifeguard who helps his colleagues take on an oil tycoon's plans that threaten their jobs (and the beach's environment). Alexandra Daddario stars as Summer Quinn.
Solidifying his film star status, Johnson will also head up the remake of John Carpenter's classic Big Trouble in Little China.
