Baywatch movie really trying to get Pamela Anderson on board - she hasn't said no yet...

"I haven’t turned it down completely yet, but I have turned down what they offered me, but we’ll see what happens..."

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Is there even any point in making a Baywatch movie without the great, the legendary Pamela Anderson? Probably not; yet those behind the new cinematic reboot may just have to make do.

Turns out, as ET Canada reports, Anderson isn't quite game for a cameo role. She has turned down the initial offer made by producers; though the actor is open to any different, more tantalising offers that may come her way.

"I haven’t turned it down completely yet, but I have turned down what they offered me, but we’ll see what happens," she stated. "Baywatch was such a huge part of my life. And really they're trying to do an homage. It's an honor to have them want me to be a part of it so bad. But I don’t know how it benefits me to be in the film...Who knows, we’ll see what happens."

"I haven't even read the script. I have no idea what it's about," she even confessed. "They've mentioned some cute things, but I don't want to give it away."

Anderson won't have the luxury of time on her side, unfortunately; the film is currently in production, with Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson busy filming the rebooted take on the classic '90s series. Kelly Rohrbach has taken on Anderson's original role in the show, C.J. Parker; meaning her cameo would presumably see her playing a different role.

One other individual everyone will be expecting to see is, of course, David Hasselhoff. There's been no official confirmation on whether the star has secured a cameo in the film; though, considering he managed to appear in The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, it sort of seems likely he'll make time for Baywatch.

Baywatch is primed for a US release 19 May 2017.
