Cara Delevingne is reportedly in talks to star in Zoolander 2 alongside Ben Stiller.

The 22-year-old supermodel, who made her acting debut as Princes Sorokina in Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina, is wanted for the female lead in the comedy sequel, according to The Sun.

“Ben and producers want a big-name model for the film and they need to be jokers and full of natural comedy,” an insider told the newspaper.

“They’ve been closely following Cara and her antics during the past couple of years.

“They are still working out what the exact role will be but it’s likely to include a lot of goofing around.”

Delevingne has been open about her desire to move into the world of acting. Earlier this year she made her TV debut in Sky Arts’ Playhouse Presents: Timeless to mixed reviews.

But the potential comic role is still just a rumour. “Initial meetings have taken place with the agents but now Ben wants to meet Cara and work out if their chemistry is good,” the film source said.

The face of Burberry is not the only model being eyes up for Justin Theroux’s movie.

Suki Waterhouse, 22, is reportedly being considered for a smaller role.

Zoolander 2 will be casting a lot of models because the producers want to make it bigger and better than the first film,” the insider said.

“Anything those girls do is seen as big news so they know the PR value will be huge if Ben manages to sign them up.”

Zoolander 2 is set to begin filming within the next few months. The first film saw Stiller play a clueless fashion model at the end of his career, who becomes involved in a plot to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Last year the actor confirmed that there was a script for the sequel.

“There is a script and we are trying to figure out if we can get it together,” he said on The Graham Norton Show.

“I just want to make sure we can put it together the way it should be.”
