From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The official first look pictures of Zach Snyder’s Batman v Superman have been released by Warner Bros, giving fans a much anticipated glimpse at whether Ben Affleck really sizes up as Batman.

While the pictures appear to have calmed fan fears about the original concerns surrounding Affleck playing the superhero, it’s Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor who looks the most odd in the first look images.

Building on his millionaire status in The Social Network, Eisenberg plays power mad billionaire business magnate Lex Luthor, who looks like he’s never seen the light of day.

Previously released film stills showed Eisenberg without any hair, implying that his tousled golden locks will be shaven off at some time during the film to make way for Luthor’s distinctive bald head.

The pictures also give a first glimpse of Gal Godot as Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman, confronting Bruce Wayne at a society ball, in what Affleck has described as a “Bond-y sexy scene”.
