But other areas can expect a 'mixed bag', say forecasters

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Parts of south-east England will see the highest temperatures but the pleasant spell is predicted to extend throughout England and Wales.
Outside the south-east “it will be a bit of a mixed bag” this week, meteorologist Sophie Yeomans told The Independent.
She said: “England and Wales will have the sunny weather but Scotland and Northern Ireland are going to have a lot of heavy rainfall. We do have yellow weather warnings in force.
“There’s a weather front just staying across them and it’s not until Wednesday that that’s going to clear.
“Parts of Wales might see some drizzle over the next couple of days in the western hills, but east Wales and for much of England, especially southern and central England, it will be nice and warm and sunny.
“Through the early part of the week it looks to be fairly dry and sunny. For the clear conditions, clear blue sky and sunshine, it will be Wednesday and Thursday.”
But all of the UK should brace for heavy rain and wind – and potentially stormy showers – on Friday and into the weekend, she added.
In September the Met Office predicted the UK would enjoy a warm and settled autumn, following a brutal summer heatwave and the onslaught of heavy Atlantic storms earlier that month.
