I can’t wait for the Las Vegas Sphere to open… right outside my London apartment

Our loft will overlook the MSG Sphere, if it ever gets built – and we’d be excited about having it added to our skyline.

My partner, Nick, and I bought our apartment three months ago in Manhattan Loft Gardens, the high-rise living complex on the edge of Stratford’s Olympic Park. We were won over by the amazing views. It wasn’t the only reason we bought – we’ve got a corner apartment, so we get a bit of sunset, too – but the view is a pretty one.

With the Sphere now on that horizon, too, it would be out of this world. The chance to live next to a brand new modern landmark – one that’s known around the world – was only a positive.

There’s so much development going on in this area. We’re a pretty forward-thinking couple, and Stratford’s really taking shape as a destination. As well as the big Westfield and the amazing park, home to the Olympic stadium and the Abba Arena, you’ve got the new East Bank taking shape: its new waterfront museums and theatres, from the V&A and Sadler’s Wells to the BBC, are preparing to open. We wanted to be part of it all.

Yes, there will be local concerns about noise and light pollution from the Sphere, but really it’s nothing new for Londoners. And, with West Ham playing at the stadium and all the tourists that come to shop around here, Stratford knows how to handle crowds. I assume the police and council will put measures in place.

And the Tube will be able to cope with the extra visitors. It’s already shoulder-to-shoulder most days, and we manage to push our way on and off the train in rush hour when we have to.

It’s a privilege to have all these amenities on your doorstep, and to have good connections to the rest of London – especially so when the area has retained its villagey feel.

We expect the area will be a bit of a building site for a bit longer. They’re still developing bits of the park more than a decade after the 2012 Olympics finished. But buying an apartment overlooking what could one day be a London Sphere, we knew what we were getting into.

It’s going to be an exciting time.
