Letter: The case against circumcision

J GRUTCHFIELD (Letters, 12 June) asks for someone with sexual experience before and after circumcision to give an opinion on a possible reduction in penile sensitivity. Naturally, those who sacrificed their foreskins in adulthood for cosmetic or social reasons are unlikely to give an objective view, and their reports should be considered with this in mind.

I lost my foreskin two years ago to a lack of concentration while opening my zip, having previously had no opinion on the operation. My experience since and perhaps more interestingly, my wife's, is an awareness of a significant loss in sensitivity and functional performance.
