Your support makes all the difference.Fintan O'Toole is wrong to say that the highly successful presidency of Mary Robinson is the most potent argument for the Queen's redundancy ("Mary, quote contrary", 9 June). The reverse is the case. Mrs Robinson's success is in marked contrast to the impact of her comparatively undistinguished predecessors. I suspect few Irish people could even name them - the person I spoke to at the Irish Embassy could not. With the possible exception of Edward VIII, Britain has had excellent royal heads of state for generations. Our next king has been in training virtually since birth. Who will succeed Mrs Robinson?
