Now I do know the Tories have lost the plot if the rumours are correct and the prime minister is thinking of bringing back Boris Johnson. It just shows you how desperate Rishi Sunak is to try and energise his election campaign.

Does he really think that it would be a positive move to bring back somebody who caused so much trouble for his party? Who could ever trust a proven liar like Johnson again?

But then again, who knows? It looks like America might well elect Trump again, so maybe anything can happen in this crazy world.

Time for a social media ban for children?

Wouldn’t it be a great idea for the press to return to the issue that Esther Ghey wanted to pursue: the banning of social media for children.

I understand this was to be achieved in some part by only making certain types of mobile phones, presumably that can only make phone calls and send text messages, available to those under 16 years of age. Children would also be barred from access to damaging material, and their parents would have warning messages on their own phones to alert them of anything that may concern them.

I would like to give my wholehearted support to this endeavour.

Keep your running times to yourself!

I could not agree more with the sentiment of Helen Coffey’s latest article. I am an occasional park runner, with my only goal to be at the start line on time. The hero/heroine of the event is the last person across the line and not the nerds who run for stats.

Cyclists are even worse, and in my circles, Strava users are referred to as “stat-w***s”. This perfectly describes the self-pleasuring it gives the athlete, which they really should be doing by themselves and not sharing!

Tucker Carlson is a terrible journalist

Tucker Carlson’s interview opposite Vladimir Putin was appalling, not only because it was a shameless piece of whitewashing for a despotic authoritarian with ambitions of dominating his neighbour states, but because it was an extremely poor piece of journalism. I’ve seen more insightful questions posed on an episode of Loose Women!
