Sir: After Tuesday's torrential rain and severe flooding, the National Rivers Authority warned that the extreme weather would not cure the drought. Every deluge over the past few months has been followed by a similar pronouncement. So what, if not weather, is the magical, mystery cure? The authority went on to explain that the water would not get down into the underground reservoirs where it is most needed. So where will it all go? I suspect the answer lies in the sewers. Would the authority care to investigate?
Yours faithfully,
