A relative of mine in Portugal became anorexic in her early teens and was taken by her parents to a succession of doctors and psychiatrists, all to no avail. Her condition continued to deteriorate.
Desperate to do everything to make her happy and knowing of the girl's fondness for dogs, her parents bought her a puppy. Something clicked. The puppy's enjoyment of life (and of food) proved contagious.
She is now a beautiful 20-year-old owner of a rather large springer spaniel.
