Sir: Reports that the Portman Group is to start work on a code of practice for the marketing of alcoholic "soft" drinks (9 January) are welcome, but can the drinks industry be trusted to handle these products soberly?
If this initiative is to result in a consensus, it is essential that the Portman Group speaks to those people - parents, teachers, the police and so on - who suffer the consequences of teenage drunkenness as well as its own members, who have enjoyed the profits from these drinks.
