I WAS angered to find an article in the Independent on Sunday abusing women.

I refer to comments by Jeffrey Bernard in 'How We Met' (19 December) that women can't paint or write music, have never built, designed or invented anything, are 'fucking mad' and 'stupid'. Attitudes like Mr Bernard's have limited women's opportunities and denied recognition of their achievement for centuries.

It is clear that Mr Bernard feels the need to attack women but why does the Independent on Sunday give credence to his views by publishing them? I assume you consider your women readers intelligent, even if Mr Bernard does not, and I am sure you cannot expect them to continue to support a newspaper which insults and denigrates them.
