Your support makes all the difference.ACCORDING TO Ann Wroe's account of Pontius Pilate ("He knew not what he did", Culture, 28 March), "we can rely on nothing in the gospel accounts, of course; they are not meant to be historical". Surely they were meant to be historical by the unknown people who wrote them and were thought to be historical by most of the millions of people who read them for hundreds of years. Otherwise the "good news" they reported wouldn't have been true, and there wouldn't be any point in wondering about Pilate - or indeed about Jesus.
