Sir: I notice in your motoring section ('Exit the Nova, enter the Corsa', 30 January), that there are some misgivings about Vauxhall changing the name of its Nova model to Corsa, so as to fall in line with the rest of Europe, because of the latter's similarity to 'coarser'.
At least, however, that is not as bad as changing all Corsas to Novas because, especially in Spain where most Corsas are built, Nova looks exactly like No va, which means 'Doesn't go'.
If you think no one would be so stupid as to do such a thing, you are wrong. The US giant General Motors launched a Chevrolet Nova in Mexico. Unsurprisingly, the car did not sell.
