Your support makes all the difference.Sir: Polly Toynbee's column on John Major (1 May) leaves a rather sour after-taste. Whatever his faults Mr Major has a number of achievements to his credit: his handling of the Gulf war, the negotiations over the Maastricht treaty, the attempt at a peace process in Northern Ireland, an improving economy.
I suspect Mr Major will be treated more kindly by history than Ms Toynbee thinks.
