Letter: Government under fire: calls for coalitions, resignations and public demonstrations
Sir: What has become of us all? The Government is in crisis and behaves like a rabbit hypnotised by a snake. We cry for effective government leadership.
Unlock the money from council house sales and unlock the skills of construction and management workers to build houses and hospitals direly needed. Direct the recently privatised power industry - by emergency regulation if necessary - to stop the rush to gas. Fund clean coal production instead; unlock the wealth in those huge stockpiles of coal now at no cost.
Subsidise coal still in the ground by unlocking funds 'invested in' expensive and obsolete nuclear power.
I am an OAP, not a wealthy minister in a large country house, nor a wealthy barrister turned politician, nor a merchant banker, but if the national pump needs funds for repriming for a New Deal - who remembers FDR in the Thirties? - I for one am ready to ante up my two penny-worth.
Yours,
