Sir: I must thank Dr Peter Davies for his kind explanation of my husband's memory problem (letters, 29 and 30 May).

He has now provided the perfect excuse for delay by the said husband of the completion of the many household tasks that await him, and I can certainly confirm the theory that after 24 hours there is indeed no danger of task recall!
