Letter: Fishing for a clich

Sir: Now that "At the end of the day ..." has been identified as the emptiest and most-detested of clichs, should we not target "The bottom line"? Your editorial (14 April) has a splendidly meaningless example: "The bottom line is that there are too many boats chasing too few fish". Surely this, as the statement of the problem, would be a top line and a true bottom line would be the solution.

Yours sincerely,

ARTHUR JACOBS
