Sir: I am surprised to see your report that the 'head of public relations' at LSE - a junior official - is to resign because of the vote of the academic board rejecting the director's proposal to charge top-up fees to undergraduates ('LSE rejects plan to charge tuition fees', 24 June).
When a previous PR operation - the 'bid' for County Hall - failed, the same official was put forward as spokesman. The responsibility for both fiascos was that of the director, and he should be the one to resign.
Yours sincerely,
J. A. G. GRIFFITH
