Your support makes all the difference.YOUR RADIO critic, Quentin Curtis, thinks a continuous service of news and comment is a good idea. So does the BBC, and I defend its right, etc. What enrages me, and apparently a fair number of Radio 4 listeners, is that this untried and unproven service is to have the most user- friendly BBC wavelength (200m LW), while Radio 4, the epitome of high quality public service broadcasting, is consigned to FM.
This, at its best, is not easily received in all areas or on all equipment. Not everyone has a state-of-the-art receiver, and not everyone is a wizard at tuning and retuning. It is time the BBC listened to its audience as well as its experts and professionals.
