Letter: Alison Halford: courageous stand, ignominious deal

Sir: The untidy end to the Halford saga has thrown a very poor light upon not just the Merseyside police and the Home Office, but Alison Halford herself.

Overlooking the contentious issue of 'naked frolics' in swimming pools and alcohol abuse when on duty, she describes the 'desperate abuse' of the system within the Merseyside police whereby those accused of disciplinary offences were retired on health grounds. Is Miss Halford voluntarily not doing the same in order to retain her pension and lump sum?

If the cap fits, wear it.

Yours sincerely,

DAVID WILSON
