Poll: Should we give prisoners the right to vote?

The idea of prisoners voting makes our Prime Minister feel "physically sick", but does it also have you gripping the toilet seat?

The European Court of Human Right ruled in 2004 that a blanket ban on prisoners voting, which the UK currently upholds, is unlawful. That hasn't nudged Labour or Tory governments to do anything about it, though. Despite several calls from Strasbourg to change the law, if you get locked up in Blighty, you forfeit the right to vote.

Today the ECHR again reminded the UK of its failure to comply with their ruling, but also confirmed that prisoners denied the right to vote could not receive payouts in compensation.
