This is how we’ve kept momentum going in the fight for a Final Say on Brexit

Whether or not the mere mention of the B-word is enough to make your stomach turn, there’s no option but to not only continue the fight to have a people’s vote, but intensify it

It’s hard to keep up the momentum when it comes to Brexit – no matter what side of the fractious debate you’re on. Those who haven’t yet become utterly jaded by the Gordian knot of the EU negotiation process may well start to feel that way soon, as we await the results of the Tory leadership race, a new prime minister and final stab at trying to achieve the seemingly impossible.

As weary as we’ve become, however, the need to ensure that the British people get a say in their future and the options that lie ahead is more urgent than ever.

If or when the current Tory leadership frontrunner, Boris Johnson, becomes prime minister, the prospect of crashing out of the EU will re-emerge as a fresh threat. If somehow a no-deal Brexit does come to pass, our economy will be hit up to 10 times harder than the rest of the continent, as the European Commission warned last week, with northern regions likely to bear the brunt of the blows.

So, whether or not the mere mention of Brexit is enough to make your stomach turn, there’s no option but to not only continue the fight to have a Final Say, but intensify it. That’s exactly why The Independent’s Final Say campaign, alongside the People’s Vote movement, is reiterating the importance of bringing Brexit back to the people.

Starting from this summer (join us on Saturday 22 June in Leeds) right through to the big march on Saturday 12 October in London – mere weeks away from our scheduled departure date of 31 October – rallies will he held up and down Britain, putting pressure on those in power to take your views into account.

As part of that process, we’ll also bring you the latest views, from progressive politicians, economic experts and ordinary voters, amplifying their voices so they cannot be ignored.

You may count yourself as one of the tired and frustrated, but do not become disillusioned. We still have the support to make an impact, to remind those in power that every one of us, whether Leave or Remain, deserves to be heard.

Yours,
