On Saturday night, Armando Iannucci's fictional Coalition was killing off school breakfast clubs. Yesterday morning, it emerged that breakfast clubs really are closing.
Nor is this the first such instance. The day after an episode about hapless efforts to get schoolchildren to write mobile phone apps was recorded, the real Education Secretary announced plans so similar that the scriptwriters worried about leaks. Life imitating art imitating life, then? Or, given that Iannucci's team has been approached by real-world aides touting real-life insights, perhaps The Thick of It is less of a satire than a docu-drama?
