From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Today is World Food Day, the annual celebration commemorating the founding of UN's Food and Agricultural Organization in 1945. This year's theme is 'Agricultural cooperatives – key to feeding the world,' which aims to highlight the role of cooperatives in improving food security and contributing to the eradication of hunger.
The News International saga rumbled on today, as two big stories emerged regarding the company's flame-haired former CEO. In an exclusive story article in today's Independent, it was revealed that David Cameron took legal advice on withholding dozens of 'embarrassing' private emails between himself and Brooks from the Leveson Inquiry into press ethics, while the Guardian reported the former chief's severance deal was valued at 'around £7m'.
Just as we were forgetting why Cheryl Cole was famous in the first place, the biggest girl group of the Noughties is back. The fivesome's new single 'Something New' - the first since 'Untouchable' in 2009 and released to mark their ten year anniversary - was leaked online this morning.
UK meat lovers had their chops set all a-slobberin' when they heard news that legendary LA burger outlet In-N-Out Burger would be bringing a pop-up to London for one day this month. However, on the announcement of said pop-up's location, many were left bewildered, as the grills were set-up in 'so-far-north-it-may-as-well-be-Scotland' Hendon at the far reaches of the Northern Line.
