Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The third auction in aid of The Independent’s Give to GOSH charity appeal draws to a close on Tuesday night.
Among the brilliant lots are unique visits to Sotheby’s and Pinewood Studios, while sports fans might like to take their chances in this year’s Ironman 70.3 competition – or perhaps a slightly gentler weekend at SportFest in July.
The Independent’s John Lichfield has offered to give a group of four a personal tour of the Somme battlefields. And our restaurant critic Tracey MacLeod will take one lucky reader to lunch. Also up for grabs are the chance to attend a gig with music writer David Smyth, and a glitzy book launch with The Independent on Sunday’s literary editor.
For those in need of a bit of time out, there are some stunning hotel breaks on offer in the UK and abroad. And if you can’t get away, there is also an exclusive dinner for six at Richard Caring’s “34” restaurant available.
Our auction is run in partnership with Givergy Access, the online fundraising platform. Bidding closes at 9pm on Tuesday 19 January.
