This the moment that a teenager was mown down by speeding car as he crossed the road in Derby.

The 19-year-old was left in a wheelchair without the ability to walk, Derbyshire Constabulary said. It is unclear whether he will walk again.

The driver, who did not stop at the scene, was believed to be behind the wheel of a black Audi A3.

Superintendent Adrian Gascoyne said the victim was "lucky to be alive", adding: “It is absolutely essential that we bring the people responsible to justice. I would call on anyone who has information to watch the footage and put yourself in the shoes of the victim, his friends and family."
