‘Delighted he is back’: Guardiola responds as Gundogan’s Man City return confirmed
Pep Guardiola admitted he is “delighted” that Ilkay Gundogan has returned to Manchester City.
The German midfielder, 33, has signed an one-year contract to return to the club he left for Barcelona last summer.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Premier League action, Guardiola said had no doubts about bringing back their treble-winning captain when the opportunity arose.
“You know the quality that he played last season in Barcelona, he played at a high, high level, consistency, playing a lot of minutes games and producing a lot,” the City boss said.
“We didn’t have any doubts when the possibility was open and absolutely delighted he’s back.”
