Watch 'history in the making' as rare winter storm sweeps across US states

A rare winter storm continues to sweep through states across the Gulf Coast with unprecedented levels of snow falling.

The winter storm brought frigid temperatures to the South on Monday (20 January) prompting closures of roads, schools, and airports.

Footage shared from across the South shows beaches blanketed in snow.

The City of Orange Beach X, formerly Twitter account, posted footage of the widespread snow, declaring the scenes as “history in the making”.

The death of at least five people were linked to the Arctic blast, including one in Georgia, two in Houston and two more in Austin, Texas.
