Thick smoke rises as offshore wind turbine catches fire close to Suffolk
Thick smoke can be seen in the skies for miles after a wind turbine caught fire close to Suffolk.
Footage captured from North Denes Beach in Lowestoft, Suffolk on 15 August shows the offshore turbine billowing.
Filmer Liam Killett, 29, said he was “surprised and shocked” when he saw the thick black smoke on his daily walk on his lunch hour.
He said: “I was concerned big time, then realised they’re all isolated and there is a load of sea between them so realised it wouldn’t spread.”
The company that owns the turbines, RWE, has confirmed that nobody has been injured.
