Watch live as Deb Haaland joins daily White House press briefing
Deb Haaland, secretary of the interior in US President Joe Biden’s government, is to join the latest White House press briefing on Friday, alongside Press Secretary Jen Psaki. Haaland, a member of the Lalguna Pueblo tribe in New Mexico, made history last month when she became the first Native American to serve as a cabinet secretary. The briefing, taking place on the second day of Biden’s climate summit with world leaders, sees Haaland discuss “[protecting] public lands and strengthening tribal sovereignty”.
