Listen to what a night of bombings in Kyiv sounds like from the ground
Audio captures an intense Russian air attack on Kyiv early on Tuesday (16 May).
Ukrainian air defences, with Western-supplied weapons, shot down all 18 missiles aimed at the capital.
Loud explosions could be heard over Kyiv as the night-time attack combined Russian missiles launched from the air, sea and land.
It appeared to be an attempt to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defences.
No casualties were reported.
The explosions came as leaders in Europe sought new ways to punish Russia for the war.
