Robert Buckland claims Labour ‘nowhere near’ ready for government during heated clash over severance pay
Sir Robert Buckland clashed with Thangam Debbonaire as he claimed that Labour are "nowhere near" ready for government.
"One week it's £28bn on the green economy, the next week it's not... you're flip-flopping all over the place," the Conservative MP said.
In response, the shadow Leader of the Commons slammed him for claiming £16,000 in severance pay for his 110 days as Welsh Secretary in 2022.
The clash came as Rishi Sunak suffered a double by-election defeat in safe Tory seats at Thursday's (20 July) by-elections, with Labour and the Liberal Democrats both overturning majorities of about 20,000.
