Watch: 60ft St George’s flag claimed to be largest in country flies in Nottingham
A giant English flag - claimed to be the largest in the country - flew in Nottingham on St George's Day on Tuesday, 23 April.
The St George's cross measures 60ft by 26ft (18m by 8m), covering most of the Nottingham Council House which has a 200ft-high dome that rises above the city.
Nottingham City Council leader David Mellen said: “The St George flag is an iconic sight to behold when in place on the front of the Council House. Many thanks to both SCAPE and John E Wright for their support in sponsoring it this year.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone celebrating next week a very happy St George’s Day.”
