Southport attack dance teacher Leanne Lucas recalls desperate attempt to save children in first TV interview
A dance teacher who almost died in the Southport attack has spoken for the first time of her desperate attempts to help children get to safety, despite having been stabbed five times herself.
Leanne Lucas told BBC Panorama how she called 999 as attacker Axel Rudakubana chased after them.
Ten people were injured and three children were killed in the attack last July.
In her first live interview, Ms Lucas said: “He opened the door and just grabbed a child, I didn’t know what he was doing.
“Then he grabbed another and another.
“I felt something go in my back. My brain just said ‘He’s got me’.”
