Somali runner skips over finish line of 100m sprint race after recording ‘slowest ever time’
This is the moment an “untrained” athlete skips over the finish line in the women’s 100-metre race at the 31st Summer World University Games in China, in a viral clip which seems to have divided the internet.
The woman from Somalia has been identified by local media as Nasra Abukar Ali, who completed the race in 21 seconds. This is reportedly the “slowest ever” 100-metre time recorded by a female athlete from Somalia.
The viral clip has seen social media users criticise Somalia's Ministry of Youth and Sports for sending the "untrained" athlete to a high-profile event.
