Salman Rushdie reveals chilling details of moment he knew he was stabbed
Sir Salman Rushdie has recalled chilling details of the moment he was stabbed while preparing to deliver a speech on free speech in upstate New York in 2022.
The Booker Prize-winning author of The Satanic Verses suffered life-changing injuries including the loss of his right eye in the knife attack.
Sir Salman told the BBC he didn't realise he had been stabbed in the first few moments of the incident, recalling how he thought he'd been punched very hard.
He described how his eye was left hanging down his face "like a soft-boiled egg."
