Sailboat could break world speed record next year using giant kite

SP80 is building a sailboat that it believes can break the world record for a sailing boat and tops out at a whopping 80 knots (148 km/h) if all things go to plan.

The eponymously named boat looks more like the hybrid between a Formula 1 car and some sort of plane, and was first unveiled as a concept in 2019.

The Swiss company are hoping to make some headlines with their venture, which uses a giant 65-foot kite to help propel itself along.
